WSBA - Admissions

Everything you need to know about the admissions process.

The application for admission opens on Friday, November 23, 2018. We anticipate approximately 200 applications this year for 110 available spaces.

After all required materials are received and the application for admission is completed, the application file will be assembled and shared with the admissions committee. The admissions committee is a team comprised of faculty (and occasionally students) from the Wharton School.

Selections are based on a record of academic excellence, a genuine interest in experiencing the life of an undergraduate student studying sports business, a demonstrated passion for developing leadership, teamwork and communication skills. By design, our application is meant to feel similar to a college application. We expect applicants to use this experience to gain valuable experience and have the opportunity to present the best information possible to the committee.

We employ a rolling admissions policy. The deadlines for each of the four rounds are fixed and, out of fairness to the admissions committee and your fellow applicants, exceptions will not be made. It is your responsibility as the applicant to be sure that all materials are delivered by the deadline of the round in which you wish to be considered. See our timeline below.

Round One

If your application is completed by December 31, you will receive your admissions decision via email on January 18. You will be asked to RSVP by January 25 and then pay in full by February 1.*

Round Two

If your application is completed from January 1 - 31, you will receive your admissions decision via email on February 15. You will be asked to RSVP by February 22 and then pay in full by March 1.*

Round Three

If your application is completed from February 1 - 28, you will receive your admissions decision via email on March 15. You will be asked to RSVP by March 22 and then pay in full by March 29.*

Round Four

If your application is completed from March 1 - 31, you will receive your admissions decision via email on April 19. You will be asked to RSVP by April 26 and then pay in full by May 3.

*If you've applied for financial aid, you will have permission to delay your RSVP and payment deadlines until you receive your financial aid application decision on April 19.

The committee will also choose a limited number of students for the waitlist. If a student who was accepted declines their invitation, the committee will chose a student from the waitlist to fill the vacancy. Waitlisted students should note that this process could take several weeks to complete. Please note that waitlist spaces are NOT numbered and we will not be able to comment on your chances of being moved from the waitlist to the accepted list.

Those who were not accepted or waitlisted will be denied admission to the program. Applicants should note that admission to this program is quite competitive and we simply do not have enough spaces to accommodate everyone. Regardless of the outcome, we hope that all applicants will find that they learned a lot from the application process and find ways to reflect on the experience when they apply to college.
