Penn Medicine - Extracurricular Activities

What are extracurricular activities? Arts, athletics, clubs, employment, personal commitments and pursuits outside of the classroom are considered extracurricular activities.

May I list more than three extracurricular activities in my application? No, you are not permitted to submit more than three activities, nor will you be permitted to upload a resume or CV. All applicants will be subject to the same guideline.

For those of you with more than three activities, we'd encourage you to think about them all, and choose those that you feel will be the most relevant to the admissions committee.

What do you want to know about each activity? You'll be required to provide the following information for each item:

  • Name of the activity
  • Whether it is an in-school activity or out of school activity
  • Number of hours per week (or month or year)
  • A description of your responsibilities and the impact of your participation on the population(s) served by this activity. (This should not exceed 1 - 2 paragraphs.)
