Penn Medicine - Eligibility

Who is eligible to apply?: There are two eligibility requirements.

  1. Grade - We will accept applications for admission from students who will be in 11th or 12th grade in the 2020 - 2021 school year. (Sometimes, you may hear us refer to this as a rising junior or rising senior.)
  2. Biology - Applicants will be required to show that they have taken, or are currently taking, a high school level Biology course. This is done by uploading a copy of your academic transcript and Fall grades after you complete the initial application and gain access to your online account.

Do you ever make exceptions?: Not really. We'll receive 400 - 500 applications for the program who have met our eligibility requirements. You'd be at a significant disadvantage without the requirements, so out of fairness to you and your fellow applicants, we prefer not to make exceptions.

If you have not taken high school level Biology, we won't give exceptions on that front...we'll only be able to provide a few examples of online courses that you could attempt to complete on your own. This is a risky alternative, so please email help@jkcp.com to request the details before you proceed.

If you'd like to share more information about your situation and tell us why you think an exception should be made, you'd have to send an email with the details or your request to help@jkcp.com.
