What are examples of honors or awards? Honors and awards are any recognitions you've received, either from your school or from an outside organization. These can be on the school, regional, state, national or international levels. Examples include Honor Roll, winner of an essay contest, AP scholar, etc.
My school does not issue awards. Will I be at a disadvantage? We understand that not all schools issue awards and honors, which is why you can say "No." when we ask if you have any honors or awards to report. You will not be penalized for not having honors or awards to list.
May I list more than three honors or awards? No. We'll only allow space for THREE. Yes, only three! So, for those of you with more than three, we'd recommend that you consider them all and then choose to list only those three that you feel will be the most relevant to the admissions committee.
What information will I need to provide? For each honor or award, we'll ask for the following information:
- Name of the Honor or Award
- Level (school, regional, state, national, or international)
- A description of the significance of the award and the reason(s) you received it. This description should not exceed two paragraphs.
Do you need proof uploaded? You will not be able to upload documentation for these items, so if you feel supporting information is necessary, you could consider providing a URL to an image, article or webpage within the description.
